- No account, no sign-in. A random ID is all we use — until you cash out, when you type only a payout destination.
- We never read, store, or transmit your prompts or the AI's responses.
- The extension runs only on chatgpt.com, claude.ai, gemini.google.com, perplexity.ai, replit.com, base44.com, grok.com, chat.deepseek.com, and copilot.microsoft.com — and you can switch each site off.
- Per ad, we record three things: which ad, which supported site, and how long the ad was actually on screen.
- Uninstalling removes all local data and stops all collection immediately.
What the extension does
On supported sites, the extension detects when an AI response is being generated so it can display an advertisement while you wait. This detection is based on the site's interface and does not involve reading or transmitting your prompts, conversations, or AI responses. While a response is generating, it displays an ad card labeled "Ad · AdWait" in a screen corner you choose, inside an isolated container that does not modify the page's own content. It measures whether the ad was genuinely viewable — at least half visible in an active tab — using standard browser APIs. It does not read the text of your conversation.
Data stored only in your browser
- Your settings: per-site on/off switches and the ad's corner position.
- Convenience counters shown in the popup: ads watched and total viewable time.
- A random install ID, generated once by your browser. It is not derived from you or your device and is not linked to your identity.
This data never leaves your browser except as described in the next section, and uninstalling the extension deletes it.
Data sent to our server
To serve ads, credit your earnings, and prevent fraud, the extension sends our server:
- When an ad is requested: your random install ID (so we can issue a single-use serve token and apply rate limits).
- When an ad finishes showing: the ad's ID, which supported site it appeared on, how many milliseconds it was viewable, your install ID, and the serve token. Records carry a timestamp.
- If you request a cash-out: your chosen payout destination (a PayPal email address or a USDC wallet address) and the amount of the request.
That is the complete list. We use this data to calculate your revenue share, to bill advertisers for viewable impressions, and to detect fraudulent activity.
What we never collect
- Your prompts, the AI's responses, or any other page content.
- Your browsing history, or anything from sites other than the nine supported sites.
- Your name or any account identity — no sign-in exists. The only contact detail we can ever receive is a payout destination you type yourself at cash-out.
- Ad clicks. Clicking an ad simply opens the advertiser's site in a new tab; we do not currently record it.
- Cookies. We set none.
Earnings and cash-out
Earnings shown in the popup are estimates based on each campaign's rate and are finalized against advertiser-verified counts. When your available balance reaches the cash-out minimum, you may request a payout from the popup. Only at that moment do we ask for a payout destination — a PayPal email address or a USDC wallet address. We use it solely to send your payment, to detect abuse (for example, one destination claiming from many different installs), and to meet tax and accounting obligations where they apply. Payout requests are reviewed and paid after an advertiser-reconciliation window, and claim records (destination, amount, status, dates) are retained for accounting. If you never cash out, we never receive any contact information from you. Your popup also shows an "earnings key" (your random install ID) that you can copy and later paste into a fresh install to restore your balance — treat it like a password, since anyone holding it can direct that balance at cash-out.
Advertisers and service providers
Advertisers receive only aggregate statistics: total viewable impressions and unique-install reach for their campaign. They never receive your install ID. Our infrastructure providers process data on our behalf: Render (application hosting), Neon (database), and Cloudflare R2 (ad image storage).
Retention and deletion
Impression records are retained for revenue accounting and advertiser reconciliation. If you would like the records associated with your install deleted, contact us and we will work with you to locate and remove them. Uninstalling the extension immediately ends all collection.
Security
All traffic uses HTTPS. Impressions are accepted only with a single-use, server-issued token tied to your install, with rate limits and plausibility checks, and our database access uses parameterized queries. Administrative functions are token-protected.
Children
AdWait is not directed at children and should not be used by anyone under 13 (or the higher minimum age in your region).
